Winter's Song
Nice title, eh? :-) Things can get sorta slow in winter in my part of the US East coast, but I'm glad to report that my welcome messages have now gone out to everyone who has joined FKWI. What, you don't know that initialism? None other than Friendster Knowledge Workers on Indonesia. That's where you are now. It's official!
What's ahead? I have a long list of others to invite. To remain sane though, I'll do it slightly differently than in our start-up phase. First, invitations will go out at a slower rate. Second, I'll be using two other sources in addition to indonesian-studies list members, namely, people I can find on Friendster who clearly are knowledge workers, and people who email me. Continue to look in the Nice Friends list in the left sidebar as a first stop in expanding your own networks.
Others will continue to be welcome to 'add me,' so long as Friendster doesn't tell me my network is 'full.' I see there are workarounds if that happens -- I must also join Friendster as John II and invite John to add himself. John II also adds John. That way every friend in FKWI can still see every other one, old and new, though a few extra clicks are involved. Friendster software settings at present unfortunately would not allow you to see how everyone in John and John II is connected.
If John II (or even III) ever appears over the course of this year, this blog will be the only central meeting place to see all new Nice Friends and to keep up with FKWI innovations and activities. What does all that mean? Stay tuned, and check in here from time to time. Or, if you use RSS feeds, add Simplicity to your list for automatic notification of new postings. Your other way to keep current is to set your Friendster options for similar automatic notification by email. Btw, if you have a syndicated blog, it is in my feed. Already some neat FKWI blog postings have appeared on indonesian-studies list.
Even though this project is a 'spare time' (ha-ha) effort, don't assume nothing new has appeared on this blog. Remember those sidebars (left and right). They get updated quite often, and probably neither Friendster nor your RSS feed reports that to you. Besides adding Nice Friends regularly, some tools helpful to knowledge workers sneak in quietly to Simplicity. Noticed Searchrolls in the right sidebar, for example? I put in one I recently created called Indonesian Press. Cool banget! Even Google can't do what searchrolls do. There will be more. Including some created by others. Go to Rollyo to make your own. And let me know about them by email -- from inside Friendster, or straight to my regular email address.

Makasih, Mer. Still a longgggg way to go on this project. Meanwhile, there are MacAddict and Mr. Fix-It searchrolls in the right sidebar for you. :-)
Oh, ya, blogwalking is now my morning exercise ...
